Despite the fact the new Galaxy S8 won’t debut until the 2nd quarter of 2017, this doesn’t mean there isn’t much to tell. We are privy to all the latest and great Samsung Galaxy S8 rumors including the many changes expected with both the standard S8 and the S8 Edge. Sammy is believed to be producing more of the Edge variant as it has quickly become one of the hottest smartphone concepts on the market.
Expect to see a faster processor, more durable glass surround, better features, comparable price, and more functionality with peripherals. With rumors on a 4K display, eye sensing technology, enhanced Android Pay interface, Foldable dual screen and a better functionality between phone and auto.
There were early rumors that Sammy was looking to launch both the S8 and S8 Edge slightly earlier than usual, but this is highly unlikely. Expect the official unveiling at the 2017 MWC event which is likely to set up a launch worldwide starting at the beginning of April. Production is rumored to start earlier than usual which would mean more handsets available on the day of launch. We’re hoping this to hold true as consumer interest for both versions is at an all-time high which could mean long launch delays, especially in smaller markets.
There have also been rumors that both the GS8 and GS8 Edge will be two of the first smartphones to feature 5G connectivity. While 5G mobile technology is in the works, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see it in the new 2017 Galaxy S models, but highly likely we’ll see it in the new 2018 Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models. This could mean that in 2018 the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Edge, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Note Edge 4 could be Sammy’s first-take on 5G connectivity.

Sammy has been listening to what consumers are asking for, and everything noted will be seen in the upcoming Galaxy S8 concept. The speed will rival that of any new 2017 smartphone, and all other facets will be getting a bump including more camera features, improved visual display, increased security features, and a better interface with Samsung and 3rd party apps.
Expect to see more marketing with mobile payment options including Samsung and Android Pay. Apple pioneered mobile payment technology with Apple Pay, but both Samsung and Google are making huge strides and this will be seen once again with the newest flagships.
The durable glass-like surround and the new Corning Gorilla glass will significantly improve both the durability of the screen and outer surround. Expect to see a new, premium glass outer body that will encase both the front and back of both S8 versions.
Samsung hasn’t become known as one of the industries leaders with believing in the idea of maintaining the status quo which leads us into one of the latest rumors on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. They’ve already confirmed that a foldable smartphone is in the works, and could be launched as early as 2017 or 2018. One of the best additions will be a new, unique glass-like surround. We’re hearing rumors of a much more durable surround that will hold-up much better than the current model. We were hoping to see a waterproof surround that we’ve seen in the rugged Active models, but this isn’t likely based on what we’ve hearing as of now.
Android Auto is expected to become a standard features in many upcoming cars and trucks which would give consumers the ability to access music playlists, apps, and other features from your phone directly on your car or truck display. Android Pay is also starting to take-off along with Samsung Pay which gives consumers sporting an upcoming Android smartphone the ability to conveniently and safely checkout at many worldwide retailers.

Consumers will be happy to know that the Samsung Galaxy S8 price will remain competitive, and no significant increases will be noted at the time of launch. Some have been speculating that the new price of the GS8 and GS8 Edge will be slightly more than the GS7 and GS7 Edge at the time of launch, but Samsung is intent on keeping the launch day prices around the same.
Release date prices will be available through full purchase, carrier two year contracts, and installment pricing which will vary by carrier. We have come to expect new and renewal two year contract pricing through most of the top carriers worldwide, but many including those here in the US are moving away from contracts in-place of installment plans.
